*** DROGHEDA IS IN FOAL TO FOR ROMANCE FOR 2017 ***
Drogheda (pictured right with her 2014 Metall foal) is a seriously impressive State Premium mare by De Niro, out of a prized Trakhena dam line. She has also been awarded Elite status due to the success of her progeny. At age six, after a successful ridden career (to Advanced Medium - when she only stopped because of a lack of rider) she began her breeding career, and has now had a number of very good foals. She is by De Niro, Donnerhall's most impressive son, and most successful WBFSH sire (i.e. the highest number of competition points from Grand Prix offspring) for a number of years before being falling to second place in 2014 behind Gribaldi. Drogheda's damline (from the Happy line of mares) produced the Brilliant Ring Champion Oldenburg mare Soiree D'Amour (who also placed 5th in the World Breeding Championships in 2014). Drogheda's grandmother and Soiree D'Amour's great grandmother are the same mare. Drogheda's performance test results were particularly good. Her overall score was in excess of 8 - with 8s for all her paces, in hand and ridden - and she achieved 9s for Elastizitat und Schwung and her head. Her temperament is the sweetest; she forms close bonds with both humans and horses; and is a devoted and tolerant mother.

2008 - Hann chestnut stallion by Loxley II - licensed Verden in October 2010

2013 - OLD dark bay colt by Metall - awarded BEF Elite Premium and an Oldenburg Foal Premium
2014 - OLD bay colt by Metall - awarded BEF Higher First Premium and an Oldenburg Foal Premium

Further information: Foaled in 1993, De Niro was the Reserve Champion of his own Performance Test in Adelheidesdorf in 1996, achieiving 141.93 overall - within which his dressage index was 145.41 (first place) and his showjumping index was 117.75 (eleventh). He went on to an exemplary competition career. He was achieving first places in Grand Prix by the age of seven; he was German Champion of Professional Riders under his trainer, Dolf-Dietram Keller in 2001; he took first place in the Grand Prix Special Tour of Saumur/FRA in 2002; he took placings in the Piaff Sponsorship Prize in 2006; and was Hanoverian Stallion of the Year 2008. On the breeding front, De Niro ranked fifth among the world's best dressage sires in 2010. Desperados, the sire of our own Dalloway, a champion sire and a successful Grand Prix performer in his own right, is just one of more than 60 licensed De Niro sons. Others include the Reserve Champion and three-time State Champion, Depardieu, ridden by Emma Hindle/GBR; and the winner of the Hanoverian licensing and stallion performance test, Dancier, who sold to the State Stud in Celle for 220,000 Euros. De Niro is found again and again as the dam's sire in the pedigrees of outstanding performance horses. For example, the Champion Stallion, Hotline, who broke the Stallion Market price record, selling for 800,000 Euros; and he is an outstanding sire of daughters e.g. the current Oldenburg Champion Mare, Fifty-Fifty; or Edina, the 2010 Oldenburg Champion Mare; or Die Weingard, the 2000 Reserve Champion Mare in Rastede.
De Niro's sire, the outstanding Donnerhall, combined a sports career at international Grand Prix level with a remarkable breeding performance. Hardly any other stallion has had a greater lasting influence on contemporary German dressage sport and the breeding of dressage horses globally, than that of the recently deceased liver chestnut Oldenburg stallion. In competition, he was a German champion; came third in the world freestyle championships; was a team world champion in The Hague in the Netherlands; took individual third and a team championship at the 1997 European dressage championships in Verden; and in 1998 became team world champion in Rome. The dam Alicante, herself a successful dressage horse, earlier produced the full De Niro brother Dimension, who has a fine reputation as a sire in Westphalia.
Akzent II is regarded as one of the best producers of rideability in modern day horse breeding and has produced many licensed stallions and state premium and elite mares (e.g. Gralshueter, Carismo, Welton, Trend, Pik Labionics, World Man G, Grannus As and Gracieux). The pedigree is further strengthened by the performance thoroughbred Wiesenbaum xx, who established his position through his sons Wiesengrund, Wittelsbach and the respected sire Ferdinand. The dam line is identical in its origins to that of the stallion Dewett (Zweibruecken state stallion), Gomez (Dillerburg state stallion), Laurion (private stallion Oldenburg), Wapiti (Celle state stallion) and Wogenbrecher (private stallions Westphalia). This dynasty is also represented by the international showjumper Landdame (Franke Sloothaak) who is Laurion’s full sister.
Drogheda is from a venerable and valued Trakehner dam line of really beautiful looking horses. Her dam's sire, the elite chestnut Trakehner stallion Banditentraum, who died in 2005 aged 22, was licensed at the Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster in 1986 and won his Stallion Performance Test with an index of 130.39 points. He was always a very undervalued stallion but was still named "Elite Sire" in 2001, because the small number of offspring (only 158 registered sport horses in 2003) he produced proved to be so successful in the show ring. For a long time, he was the only Trakehner stallion approved by the three major German stud books in Hanover, Westfalia and Oldenburg and it was mostly there that his reputation as a top notch dressage horse producer arose. Out of this small number of horses, Banditenatraum yet produced 3 approved Hanoverian sons. His most famous offspring include Ingrid Klimke's Prix St George horse Kira K and Yvonne Losos de Muniz' upcoming Grand Prix horse Bernstein, who is also a licensed breeding stallion for the Hanoverian verband and Danish Warmblood society. Banditentraum was by Kiebitz out of Beauty (Mozart x Cardinal xx).

Just thought I'd let you know how Rocco is doing - he is
absolutely massive I'm sure he's going to make about 18h at this rate!
But he'll be big anyway like you said and just what I wanted. He's a
lovely boy and stands very good when having his foal feet trimmed. He
let's me go into him and make a fuss - he's so easy to handle - unlike my other foal who is an evil monster in miniature! Hope you and horses are well x (Apr 2012)
'Monik is just super. A really happy lady to have around. She lives with
her best buddy Nora (a KWPN broodmare) and they are excellent mates!' (Oct 2011). 'She is a fabulous mum and was indeed five days early as you said
she would be! She is a joy to have around. She lives out with her other
broodmare friend and despite the ridiculous weather is pretty happy!' (Jun 2012)
