Pr. Desert Song// A Black Oldenburg Brood Mare.
Full Name: Pr. Desert Song
Breeding Summary: Hotline / Warkant / Donnerhall
Dam: Hauptstutbuch Daylight
Gender: Brood Mare
Desert Song is an expressive young mare by the exciting young stallion Blue Hors Hotline a grandson of Gribaldi. Her dam brings the blood of the outstanding Celle state stud stallion Warkant by World Cup. Desert Song is responsive and forward going under saddle with three very good paces. Her walk is long and swinging, her trot is powerful and loose, full of suspension and yet super-comfortable to sit on, and her canter is light and uphill.
Desert Song was first inseminated as a four year old and has had two foals to date:
1. 2012 Waverley Federer - chestnut colt by Fidertanz - scored a Higher First Premium of 8.84%
2. 2013 Waverley Furst Dance - dark brown filly by Furstenball - awarded an Oldenburg Verband Premium
Hotline, who is proving to confer great rideability to his offspring, is a son of Hofrat and a grandson of Gribaldi (the sire of Totilas and Painted Black). He is a stunning mover with great hind leg reaction and exceptional looks, and became the obvious choice for Champion or “Siegerhengst” at the licensing in Verden in 2005. He went on to become the undisputed winner of his 70-day performance test in Schlieckau with a total score of 137.34 points, a dressage index of 149.28 and a top score of 10 from both riders. In 2007, he was crowned champion of four year old stallions in Denmark, and, demonstrating his consistency, won the Danish Dressage Horse Championships for Five Year Olds with a score of 9.45 points. Hotline’s sire, Hofrat, was reserve champion at the Trakehner licensing in 2000, with a dressage index of 136 at the Adelheidsdorf performance test, and he has won classes at all levels up to Intermediaire I. Hotline has a Breeding Value Index of 158 points, and a reliability score of 86%.
Hotline’s maternal grandsire De Niro, also a successful Grand Prix dressage horse and sire to many successful breeding and competition progeny, was named Hanoverian Stallion of the Year in 2008. Wendepunkt, the great-grandsire, provides Hanoverian performance genes, followed by Busoni, who was maternal grandsire to Isabell Werth’s Gigolo FRH.
Desert Song’s dam’s sire Warkant was Hanoverian stallion of the year in 2002 in recognition of his contribution to the breed with 9 licensed sons and 46 State premium mare daughters. Warkant’s offspring caused a sensation at sales with 37 being the best horses or most expensive horses of their auctions. He was sire of the top Grand Prix mare Wansuela Suerte who won the German Team Gold Medal at Aachen WEG with Hubertus Schmidt, and is also the maternal sire of Londonderry. His breeding value index is 156
Desert Song has Donnerhall on both sides of her pedigree. Donnerhall held the highest dressage breeding value index (271) of all stallions, winning more than 65 FEI Level and Grand Prix competitions and competing until he was retired at 17 years of age. Donnerhall’s dam's sire, Akzent II, is regarded as one of the best sires for producing 'rideability' in modern sport horse breeding, and has produced many approved stallions and expensive auction horses.

About Waverley Stud
Based in the heart of England (near Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire - home of the British Dressage National Championships) we breed and train a small number of dressage horses each year. Using only Elite or State Premium Dressage mares of good character, together with the best international stallions (all of which are Performance Tested and proven) our stock is of exceptional quality and trainability.
Leni won the 4 year old class at Manor Grange yesterday with a score of 8.46. He was an absolute star. Thrilled with him. He has a real work ethic and three fabulous paces, so we're excited about his future.
