So Cliquot is St.Pr.St. Samoa (aka Sensation) first foal. She is by triple world champion Sezuan and her pedigree features the Olympic star Don Schufro, at least four established Grand Prix stallions, plus two who are nearly there and the most highly evaluated stallion on record. We called her So Cliquot (continuing our Champagne theme this year) to celebrate the birth of this black baby with four white feet, a white star and a tiny white snip on her muzzle (in fact her markings are a replica of those of her illustrious father!). She has a really good swinging walk and a fabulous canter with excellent front leg lift and hind leg split. She has just begun her ridden work and will soon be out completing at Novice level.
So Cliquot is by the phenomenal young stallion Sezuan. Sezuan is by Zack out of a Don Schufro mother - a product of Blue Hors breeding. Zack is by Rousseau out of a Jazz mare and Don Schufro is the product of another D-line/F-line cross but this time using the original - Donnerhall himself. Sezuan caused a sensation when he won the 35 day Danish Warmblood stallion performance testing in the autumn of 2012 as a three year old, with a record breaking result of 987.5 points out of a 1,000. He scored ten 10s (!) and three 9.5s during the testing, and on the final day the trainer, judges and test riders agreed that this stallion has world class gaits and potential.
Samoa is a Brilliant Ring State Premium Oldenburg mare. She has wonderful elastic paces with great suspension in the trot and the canter. So Cliquot is her first foal. Sensation is by the fabulous San Amour, one of my favourite stallions. In my view he has it all: great beauty; real charisma in the arena and spectacular movement even as he performs the advanced level exercises. San Amour, finished his 70-day performance test with a superior dressage index of 137.74 points and was twice awarded a 9.5 for his excellent rideability.
Based in the heart of England (near Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire - home of the British Dressage National Championships) we breed and train a small number of dressage horses each year. Using only Elite or State Premium Dressage mares of good character, together with the best international stallions (all of which are Performance Tested and proven) our stock is of exceptional quality and trainability.
'Monik is just super. A really happy lady to have around. She lives with
her best buddy Nora (a KWPN broodmare) and they are excellent mates!' (Oct 2011). 'She is a fabulous mum and was indeed five days early as you said
she would be! She is a joy to have around. She lives out with her other
broodmare friend and despite the ridiculous weather is pretty happy!' (Jun 2012)
Just thought I'd let you know how Rocco is doing - he is
absolutely massive I'm sure he's going to make about 18h at this rate!
But he'll be big anyway like you said and just what I wanted. He's a
lovely boy and stands very good when having his foal feet trimmed. He
let's me go into him and make a fuss - he's so easy to handle - unlike my other foal who is an evil monster in miniature! Hope you and horses are well x (Apr 2012)
