De Niro is a big, strong, athletic horse with a friendly and amenable character - a talented dressage competitor, an able show jumper and, to crown it all, a breeding champion.

His career has been exemplary.  He was placed Reserve Champion of his Performance Test in Adelheidesdorf 1996, with an overall score of 141.93, within which his Dressage Index was 145.41 (1st place) and his Jumping Index was 117.75 (11th place); and then in 1997 he was awarded the I-a main premium by the Oldenburg Association as a result of his overwhelming breeding value rating.
In 2000, at the age of only seven, De Niro was declared the best new generation Grand Prix dressage horse, having won at Prix St. Georges, Intermediare I and II and Grand Prix. And the success continued.  He was German Champion of Professional Riders under his trainer, Dolf-Dietram Keller in 2001; took first place in the Grand Prix Special Tour of Saumur/FRA in 2002; was placed well in the Piaff Sponsorship Prize in 2006; and was finally crowned Hanoverian Stallion of the Year in 2008.

De Niro already has more than 60 approved sons.  In 2004 in addition to two vice-champion stallions, De Niro presented the champion stallion, Dancier, at the stallion licensing in Verden. In 2005, in Verden, De Niro (dam sire) presented the top-priced (800,000 Euro) stallion champion; and his son Daily Pleasure (dam by Ehrenmarsch) became German Champion of the 4 year old dressage horses at the German Young Horses’ Championship. In 2006, with 14 descendants, De Niro presented the highest quota at German Young Horses’ Championship in Warendorf, and returned himself to Grand Prix sports.

By 2010 De Niro ranked fifth among the world's best dressage sires - and in the UK, in particular, ALL his foals were given premium by the Oldenburg verband. Among his most successful competing progeny at present are: the WC team bronze winner, German Vice Champion and Medien Cup winner, Dablino, ridden by Anabel Balkenhol; the three-time EC gold winner in the class for young dressage riders, D'Agostino with Fabienne Lütkemeier; the EC team gold winner in the class for young dressage riders, German Champion and World Champion of young dressage horses, Deveraux OLD with Sanneke Rothenberger; the talented young Grand Prix star, Delgado with Beatriz Ferrer-Salat/ESP; the winner of the German Dressage Derby, Desperados ridden by Falk Rosenbaueris; the Reserve Champion and three-time State Champion, Depardieu, now ridden by Emma Hindle/GBR; and the winner of the Hanoverian licensing and stallion performance test, Dancier, who sold to the State Stud in Celle for 220,000 Euros.
De Niro is also found again and again as the dam's sire in the pedigrees of outstanding performance horses. For example, the Champion Stallion, Hotline, who broke the Stallion Market price record, selling for 800,000 Euros or the current Oldenburg Champion Mare, Fifty-Fifty. De Niro's daughter Edina became the 2010 Oldenburg Champion Mare and his daughter Die Weingard had been the 2000 Reserve Champion Mare in Rastede.

The sire, Donnerhall, was a most outstanding stallion combining a sports career at international Grand Prix level with a remarkable breeding performance  Hardly a stallion has had a greater lasting influence on contemporary German dressage sport and the breeding of dressage horses than that of the recently deceased Donnerhall. The liver chestnut Oldenburg stallion was a German champion and came third in the world freestyle championships. He was also team world champion in The Hague in the Netherlands. He moreover came individual third and team champion at the 1997 European dressage championships in Verden. In 1998 he became team world champion in Rome. The dam Alicante, herself a successful dressage horse, earlier produced the full De Niro brother Dimension, who has a fine reputation as a sire in Westphalia.

The dam's sire Akzent II was regarded as one of the best producers of rideability.  He is the dam's sire of  a number of respected breeding stallions: De Niro and Dimension, have already been mentioned - but there are also Gralshueter, Carismo, Welton, Trend, Pik Labionics, World Man G, Grannus As and Gracieux. The pedigree is strengthened by the performance thoroughbred Wiesenbaum xx, who established his position through his sons Wiesengrund, Wittelsbach and Ferdinand. The dam line is very strong - identical in its origins to that of the stallion Dewett (Zweibruecken state stallion), Gomez (Dillerburg state stallion), Laurion (private stallion Oldenburg), Wapiti (Celle state stallion) and Wogenbrecher (private stallions Westphalia). This dynasty is also represented by the international showjumper Landdame (Franke Sloothaak) who is Laurion’s full sister.

This horse is part of our breeding programme bloodline, we DO NOT offer semen.
